Schöner Wohnen
The Aarnio chair I wishfully talked about here, is featured this year in the Danish pavilion at the Venice Biennale, curated by Elmgeen & Dragset. The artist duo turned the pavilion into the home of a fictional homosexual art collector, who collects Wolfgang Tillmans and Tom of Finland among others. Not that I would want to live there (the pool is the setting for a sinister Sunset Boulevard re-enactment). I am more fond of the horror vacui of the interior that Fiona Tan filmed for her contribution to the Dutch pavilion. (You can watch a two-minutes excerpt of the video Disorient here). It looks like an oriental museum stock room that could have been the home of a 19th century orientalist dandy like Des Essientes (that other fictional homosexual art collector) from the novel by J. K. Huysmans. Now in who's house would you rather live? I don't know which of these two houses is more scary.
